Foundation to Decrease World Suck

Privacy Policy
Last updated 1.18.2023

Your privacy is critically important to us, so at Foundation to Decrease World Suck (FTDWS) we have a few fundamental principles. If you find content on the FTDWS or Project for Awesome websites you believe violates our Privacy Policy, please contact us immediately at [email protected].

We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it. The main reason we’d ever ask for your information is to send you a perk that you ordered. Sometimes we’ll need a little extra information from you if you ask for a specific receipt for a past donation.

If you ordered a perk through the Project for Awesome, we might need to share your information. In most cases, this would only be with our shipping partner. If you ordered a personalized perk, we might need to share information relevant to that perk, like your name, social account username, and mailing address, with the person creating your perk. Aside from those instances, we will not share your information with anyone outside of the FTDWS team.

We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the ongoing operation of one of our services.

Foundation to Decrease World Suck

FTDWS operates a regular website at fightworldsuck.org and a seasonal website during our annual fundraising campaign at projectforawesome.com. It is FTDWS’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our website. If you have questions about deleting or correcting your personal data, please contact our support team at [email protected].

Personally-Identifying Information

Should a visitor to FTDWS’s websites choose to interact in a more deep engaging way, FTDWS may be required to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that FTDWS gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, during the Project for Awesome, visitors are invited to submit videos in support of their favorite charitable organization and we may need to reference videos in order to properly grant funds.

Those who engage in transactions with FTDWS — making a donation, for example — are asked to provide additional information, including as necessary the personal and financial information required to process those donations. In each case, FTDWS collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with FTDWS. Additionally, FTDWS will keep personal information in order to confirm receipt of the donation and send acknowledgements as requested. FTDWS does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as
described below.

Those who choose to donate to the Project for Awesome through Tiltify.com may be requested additional information, including a name, email, credit card, and shipping address, in order to fulfill the requested perk and complete the donation. Additionally, all donations made through Tiltify are subject to Tiltify’s privacy policy, found here: https://tiltify.com/pages/privacy-policy.

Those who choose to submit videos in support of their preferred charity on the Project for Awesome will be required to include information regarding their YouTube channel, including a direct link to the video. These videos and associated YouTube channels are publicly viewable by any visitor to the Project for Awesome website. Additionally, the embedded YouTube video is subject to YouTube policies, found here: https://www.youtube.com/about/policies/#community-guidelines

Business Transfers

If FTDWS, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that FTDWS goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of FTDWS may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, FTDWS may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and at FTDWS’s sole discretion. FTDWS encourages visitors to frequently check the fightworldsuck.org/documents page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Continued use of this site after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.

Protection of Information

FTDWS discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying
information only to those of its volunteers, contractors and affiliated organizations that
(i) need to know that information in order to process it on FTDWS’s behalf or to
provide services available at FTDWS’s websites, and
(ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others.

Some of those volunteers, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using FTDWS’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. FTDWS will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone.

Other than to its volunteers, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, FTDWS discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when FTDWS believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of FTDWS, third parties or the public at large.

If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to share it with volunteers, contractors, and affiliated organizations in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. FTDWS takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Email Communication

Foundation to Decrease World Suck sends occasional updates that we believe will be useful to individuals who requested perks in exchange for donations through our Project for Awesome campaign or individual email request. Donors may choose to forfeit their perks in order to remove themselves from this mailing list via email request to [email protected]. We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. During our Project for Awesome campaign, Tiltify and FTDWS may use and track cookies through the associated Project for Awesome campaign page or website. The Tiltify campaign page is subject to the rules and policies created by Tiltify.

Thank you to Media Cause for allowing FTDWS to use their Privacy Policy available under a Creative Commons Sharealike License. It was their example that served as the template for this policy.
